On the way to a successful career, people who work at Mattos Filho go through important phases. “We have a very consistent professional trajectory with continuous learning and development in each stage, from our Young Talents program up to our partners”, emphasizes Renata Maiorino, director of human development.


In 2018, we took an important step in people management by implementing a new evaluation model for our lawyers. This model brought several innovations, one of which is a 360° evaluation, which is held twice a year and reveals points for development and of good performance for our professionals. Furthermore, everyone is assessed based on specific descriptions from professional profiles. Final evaluations then undergo a committee process. This ensures that all evaluations and career progress decisions are never solely in the hands of a single person.

In this new evaluation system, a person’s performance is accounted for by someone who has been given that role and discussed by a group of senior professionals. We believe that this methodology allows us to be more transparent and fair, improving our visibility with respect to our people’s performance and their understanding of their points for development.

Our people management system requires serious dedication and time investment. It is our firm belief that it will help us have an even better and more capable group, delivering even higher quality work to our clients.

The Young Talents Program

YOUNG TALENTS

Our project for the recruitment and selection of professionals still in law school is in its third year and seeks to develop the future leaders of Mattos Filho.

The program lasts for two years and law students who are approved can choose between an internship or becoming a trainee in our São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Brasília offices.

Our internships are based on participants choosing a practice for which they have already demonstrated an affinity. Trainees, on the other hand, gain experience through job rotation among the firm’s traditional practice areas: Corporate, Litigation and Arbitration, and Tax, as well as a fourth, which can be freely chosen by the student.

MATTOS FILHO UNIVERSITY

With the aim of developing the technical and behavioral skills of our professionals, and in line with our business and corporate strategy, in 2011, we launched our corporate education center – the Mattos Filho University.

In 2018, the way the university functions was reformulated to follow market trends, domestic and international. Among the changes made, the following are worthy of special mention:


A new physical space exclusively for classes and training, as well as group studies, brainstorming sessions and coworking activities

Live classes with real-time transmission to all offices

An online portal where classes and course content can be stored and accessed

An exclusive team made up of professionals dedicated to corporate education and working to develop our professionals
